Description

Active Ingredients】Oxytetracycline

Description】Yellow to light brown clear liquid.

Pharmacological Effects】Pharmacodynamics: Oxytetracycline belongs to the tetracycline class of broad-spectrum antibiotics. It has a strong effect on gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, hemolytic streptococci, anthrax bacillus, tetanus Clostridium and Clostridium, but not as strong as β-lactams. It is more sensitive to gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Brucella and Pasteurella, but not as strong as aminoglycosides and amide alcohol antibiotics. This product also has inhibitory effects on rickettsia, chlamydia, mycoplasma, spirochetes, actinomycetes and some protozoa.

Drug Interactions】① When used with strong diuretic drugs such as furosemide, it can aggravate renal function damage. ② It is a drug that quickly inhibits bacteria and can interfere with the bactericidal effect of penicillins on bacteria during their reproductive period, so their simultaneous use should be avoided. ③ When used with calcium salts, iron salts, or drugs containing metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, aluminum, bismuth, etc. (including Chinese herbal medicines), it can form insoluble complex compound and reduce drug absorption.

Indications】Oxytetracycline: Tetracycline antibiotics. Used for certain Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma and other infections.

Dosage and Administration】Intramuscular injection: single dose, 0.033~0.067ml per kg body weight for livestock.

Adverse Reactions】Oxytetracycline: (1) Local irritation. The hydrochloride aqueous solution of the drug in this category is highly irritating and intramuscular injection can cause pain, inflammation and necrosis at the injection site.

  • Intestinal flora disturbance. Tetracycline drugs have a broad-spectrum inhibitory effect on horse intestinal bacteria, which can lead to secondary infection by drug-resistant Salmonella or unknown pathogens (including Clostridium, etc.), resulting in severe or even fatal diarrhea. This situation often occurs after high-dose intravenous administration, but it may also occur after low-dose intramuscular injection.
  • Affects tooth and bone development. After entering the body, tetracyclines bind to calcium and are deposited in teeth and bones along with calcium. This type of drug can easily pass through the placenta and enter breast milk, so it is forbidden to use it in pregnant animals, lactating animals and small animals. During the period of use of the drug, milk from lactating cows cannot be put on the market.
  • Liver and kidney damage. This type of drug has toxic effects on liver and kidney cells. Tetracycline antibiotics can cause dose-dependent changes in renal function in a variety of animal species.

(5) Anti-metabolic effect. Tetracyclines can cause azotemia, which may be exacerbated by the presence of steroid drugs. This class of drugs can also cause metabolic acidosis and electrolyte imbalance.

Flunixin meglumine: Intramuscular injection has a local irritating effect. Long-term and high-dose use of this product may cause gastric ulcers and kidney damage in animals.

Precautions】(1) This product should be kept in a dark, dry place and sealed away from light. Avoid exposure to sunlight. Do not use metal containers to store medicine. (2) Horses may also develop gastroenteritis after injection, so it should be used with caution. (3) Do not use in animals with severe liver or kidney damage.

Withdrawal Period】8 days for cattle, sheep, and pigs; 7 days for weaning period.
